What I'd Bring With Me

Alone.

Stranded.

Nothing but one.
An object, but what to choose?
A book, Photo, Or phone?
What can I leave?
What can I let go?
For I can only have one,
        before I'm gone.
How does one choose?
Is it for myself,
      my friends,
      or my family?
I will be alone.
But, I could have my phone.
My memory will remember there faces.
So do I bring that photo?
Or do I choose the book?
My favorite story and friend.
For which do I bring?
               And what do I leave
I the end time will get you,
                The phone breaks,
                    The photo rips.
        The book becomes unbound.
But my memory will fade,
so their faces will leave me.

In the end I bring the photo of my family
          For the happy times,
the sad,      and the ones filled with anger.
So that I can be with them in my dreams,
see their faces along with me.
Because my family is ultimately part of me.
