What If?

What if they hadn’t walked in that fateful day,

revealing all my mistakes and regrets?

What if?

What if i never dragged the blade across my skin,

leaving permanent reminders for me of my pain,

what if?

What if I  never hit send,

never having to deal with the shame and the secrets,

What if?

What if I never picked up a pen and paper,

Finding an escape from reality?

What if?

Would I still be the same?

What if my past never happened?

All my trials that have made me a better person.

Where would I be without that?
