what if

he wasn't mine and I wasn't his,

but somehow we began to lose our once shared fizz.
we had a special something,
it was kind of like a fling.
only difference was we weren't together,
but still offered each other shelter.
so many what if's running through my mind,
almost like my thoughts have me in a bind.
what if we were a couple,
maybe this relationship or whatever it was would've been more supple.
what if he let me help him,
maybe then and just then I wouldn't feel so grim.
what if he was happy,
would he have done this to me?
what if he and I just spoke?
maybe then I wouldn't feel like I'm about to choke.
but we weren't anything,
yet still needed each other to cling.
I didn't even know him long,
and people say that's wrong.
eight weeks; but with him it felt like a lifetime,
to love someone so much in such a short amount of time, well that must be a crime.
if that really be so; have me arrested,
cause in no way does that make my affections for him lessened.
it hasn't been that long since he left to say goodbye and go away,
but I can tell that'll I'll miss him everyday.
I hate him for what he did,
but I had to let him go and keep him only in a small part of my mind; very well hid.
hopefully he'll come back,
and when he does; nothing else will lack
