What If?

What if I had never been born?

I'm sure it would have been different.

My parents might be alone and sad--

But, then again, maybe they wouldn't.

What if I hadn't gone to that school?

I'm sure I could have gone to another.

In fact, the reason I did, I think,

Was to try and please my mother.

What if I had dated that boy instead?

I'm sure life could have been good.

He may not have caused me the pain this one did,

And treated me like one should.

What if we stopped asking "what if?"

And chose to focus on our blessings?

'Cause honestly, a life full of maybes and doubt

Would be pretty damn depressing.
