What if Snow White was Black?

What if Snow White was Black?

What if it was proper housing that she lacked?

What if she didn’t need a kiss from a man?

But instead needed a plan

What if instead of falling asleep

She fell into poverty

Instead of living in a cottage

She faced a different type of disadvantage

You see, ‘’Snow White’’ just wanted to be great

And she wouldn’t let her circumstances change her fate

She wanted to rise out of the projects and the hood

To go to college and do some good

You see, it wasn’t an evil Queen holding her back

It was the fact that she was born in a system that was whack

A system filled with racism, incarceration and drugs

She wanted to move out and bloom

Yes, like Snow White she wanted a groom

But instead of simply getting one and closing the chapter

She wanted to live out a successful ‘’happily ever after’’
