The What Ifs of Happily Ever After

Had the Beast been evil

And Belle within the walls

There'd be no retrieval

And no singing in the halls

Had the servants wished revenge

On poor Beauty's head

No one could avenge

Cold on a bed

Had Belle been less courageous

Maurice would have paid

The story outrageous

But he would be laid

Had Gaston been stronger

And stabbed the Beast later

The Prince is no longer

And the grief far greater
