What Inspires Me

Cold and gray, dressed up with butterflies and pretty things.

The hospital room is collapsing in on me.

After months, I see the outside light.

The sun is shining so bright onto me.

Years have flown by, like wind in a tornado.

I walk the same path I once did.

Cold and gray.

I see her.

A young girl. Skin and bones, not much more.

Crying, begging the doctors to let her go.

I run to her.

The doctor calls my name, telling me to go back to my room.

But I am older now, "I'm not a patient," I say proudly.

The young girl looks up. Hope in her eyes.

Hope that one day she'll be as happy.

To be proof of life after adversity.

Life after the hospital.

Life outside the glass, "it's great, little girl."

The doctor gives me a hug. "Thank you."
