I am a black girl with sensual hips and full lips

I am a black girl

with a secret language

i am a proud black girl

what it means to be a black girl

one within this sacred sisterhood

one with nature

i am a black girl learning the ropes

you cannot break me

i am a black girl

with smooth skin glistening under the sun

my hair is resilient

my skin resilient

my soul soft and glowing

what it means to be a black girl

the most misunderstood

misrepresented

and under protected

but I am a black girl

protecting, nurturing and caring

for all

i am a black girl

tall and proud we stand

i am a black girl

shoulders square, palms turned upward

i am a black girl
