What it means to be me

Im trapped in a box
It really isn't pretty
It sure isn't cozy
It is a functional box you see
A box meant just for me
It holds all of my feelings
My dears
My emotions
It pulls away parts of my character
The ones that are considered rather distasteful

So I put it aside
I push it down deep
Oh don't be silly
Don' appear weak
You're surly stronger than this
There is no reason to weap

I bring it up
They shy it away
All they seem to want
Is for the problem to go away

Well it won't go away
It's surly here to stay

Let me be myself
Don't make me hide away
Let me set it free

This is what it's like
To live the life of me
