WHAT I'VE LEARNED

                                   POETRY HAS TAUGHT ME

THAT EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS THAT HARBOR IN EVERYONE

MUST BE FELT AND ACKNOWLEDGED

WHETHER THROUGH PHYSICAL EXPRESSION, SPEAKING, OR THROUGH WRITING.

POETRY HAS TAUGHT ME THAT WORDS ARE A VALUABLE MEDIUM FOR EXPRESSION OF ONES STATE OF MIND

THERE IS SOMETHING POWERFUL AND MOVING IN THE CAREFULLY CONCENTRATED MANNER OF STRINGING TOGETHER JUST THE RIGHT

WORDS

THEY CREATE A MORE TANGIBLE ASPECT

TO ONES INNER NATURE

ALLOWING WHATEVER LIVES INSIDE THE WRITER TO NOW EXIST OUTSIDE THEM IN THE PHYSICAL FORM

POETRY HAS TAUGHT ME THAT WORDS CAN BE USED AS A FORM OF

THERAPY

CELEBRATION

COMFORT

CONGRATULATION

CONDOLENCE

ETC…

POETRY HAS TAUGHT ME THE POWER OF WORDS.

After taking a creative writing class my sophomore year of college I fell in love poetry and hope to improve my writing skills with time. :)
