What a Journey!

When I first went into high school I was depressed

And I’ll admit I was kind of a mess

Sophomore year my perception started changing

I found new interest and my old friends were no longer remaining

I branched out into the world

To discover a clear vision of a lost girl

I held my friends close

And myself closer

Junior year, I smiled a lot and was pretty cheesy

I had my friends to hold me down when life wasn’t easy

But senior year came around

I thought I was the biggest dog in the pound

But the day after graduation I knew I was lonely

I no longer had my friends

No, it was me only

Four years of trying to connect with people to have them go their separate ways

Made me forget the small moments each and every day

I never truly matured until this year

When the road to independence was bright and clear

I still love my friends yes I hold them very dear

But it took me four years to realize this is MY life I must steer
