What is life?

What is life? The image of goals and achievement we set ourselves to work towards The picture of happiness we tell ourselves we are continuously painting The cliché quotes found and sewn together in our minds to sooth our blistering pain and hindering confusion Is life to be living, or is life merely to be alive. To be alive is to be present, exist in a world where you’re just one of billions To be living is to be lively, and experience all life has to offer But what is it that we are being offered in this life? The chance to feel so elated with emotions indescribable to even the best writer The chance to let feelings into your heart, with the inability to predict how they’ll manipulate it A chance to fly on a whim To crash after opportunity To win To fail To smile To cry To know To be lost So completely lost, that you forget what life is You forget the immensity of everything being experienced as a whole You walk, and you wait Wait to discover, to learn, to realize, to forget Wait to feel, to break down, to build up, to let go And all along you hope, without even knowing. Hope to learn to live, not just to be alive To live with the memories To live with the loss, the fear and the feelings It’s through this hope you find your answer What is life? Life is walking on hope And hoping you’ll make it.
