What Is Love?
Love.
Many think of it as a feeling similar to soaring high in the sky,
while others think it’s as if they got the whole world.
Yet, others think of love as life becoming more colorful,
making the sun seem a more lemon-cake yellow,
the sky a more royal blue.
Love.
To many, it may seem as if their life has become like the wind,
not being able to stay in one place,
because of the happiness.
People also think of it as the stars reaching down to them.
Better yet, some people describe love as going away with the fairies
or like the crack of thunder,
ready to bring change to people’s lives’.
But others know better.
To others, love is more like falling from the sky,
from a broken heart.
It is more like seeing the true ugliness of the world after losing a loved person.
Love is more like becoming a withered plant,
having the life sucked out the person from grief and pain.
It is more like the ground being pulled out from underneath someone,
turning their whole world upside down.
Love is more like going insane from misery.
Love is also more like a strike of lightning,
ready to obliterate anything in its path.
But why is love so painful?
Why does love only destroy people and not rebuild?
Love is painful because of what it means to people.
To people, love is about knowing a person like a mother knows her child.
It is about a special connection two people have,
two people opening themselves up to each other,
ready to let their defenses down.
Love is about two people anchoring their lives together,
like an oak anchored down with its many interconnecting roots.
Love is also about the people meaning the world to each other.
It is about this seed of feelings that is planted in people’s hearts,
only to continue growing as time goes on.
Love is about seeing themselves be completed by each other.
It is about two people’s love for each other.
However, if love only brings pain after pain like waves rolling in on a beach,
then why do people fall in love?
Why do people want to wallow into abysses of despair?
Why do people want to have their hearts shattered like delicate china?
Why do people want their lives to be crushed as if the sky fell onto them?
Why?
Is love really worth it?
Is love really worth throwing all caution to the wind for only disappointment?
Is love really worth killing the seed that is life and will only grow when nourished?
Why?
Is love really like the world being at someone’s feet?
Love is worth it to people because of the promise it holds for them.
Some people don’t care about the pain.
Some people just need love to be able to feel something,
to know they are human.
Some people already wallow in their own deep, dark abysses so their not scared.
Others think they have the strength to withstand the tidal wave of pain that comes.
Yet, others think that they are tall oaks that can survive when their worlds crash.
Yes.
To some, love is worth it for all it could mean.
Yes.
To some, the love is worth all the disappointment in the world.
Why?
Because to some, the world is as empty as a moonless night without love.
So yes.
To some, love is like the universe giving a gift to them.
But if love is like God’s gift, then why do people get hurt?
Why does understanding one another inside out lead to pain?
Why does a special connection between two people still lead to misunderstandings?
Why does anchoring people’s lives together still keep them apart?
Just like an oak separating into two trunks?
Why do people still suffer after having the stars at their feet?
Why do people still grieve after having feelings as strong as rocks for each other?
Why are people still miserable after completing each other?
Why do people still pay after loving each other so much?
So much they would do anything in the world for them?
Its because in this world,
everything comes at a price.
Including love.
So people pay the price by losing the stars that are dear to them.
So people still get hurt from knowing each other,
as they leave themselves unprotected.
So people still have misunderstandings from having a connection,
since they leave too much to loose.
So people still are apart after being anchored together,
as the weight of the world rests on them and drives them apart.
So people still suffer after having the world laid out at their feet,
since they know their world can be taken away in an instant.
So people still grieve after having such strong feelings that nothing can know them,
as people are as the most irrational things in the universe,
and are fickle-minded like flying bees,
so they get angry and jealous.
So people are still miserable after fitting the final puzzle pieces,
since people are always in fear that they will lose what they have like a bear.
So people still pay after loving each other so much,
as people are too afraid of losing everything they love.
Love.
So love has many different forms like a butterfly going through metamorphosis.
It is as painful as if a knife cutting through flesh.
Love can be a reflection of beauty that shows when a spring flower blossoms.
It can be unwanted like a sunny day becoming stormy.
However, it will happen, as the whole universe will work towards it,
and sometimes it is wanted more than anything else in the world.
So even through the pain,
love is as unique and mysterious as the whole universe.
