What is Love?

Because I love you, I let you read that text.

Because I love you, you tell me not to see my ex.

Is this really how relationships should feel?

Because I love you, I’m scared of what comes next.

Because you love me, you don’t show trust.

Because you love me, I do what you say I must.

Is this really how relationships should feel?

Because you don’t love me, I’m forced to adjust.

Because I love myself, I let you go.

Because I love myself, you let anger show.

This is how healing feels, it’s strange to understand,

But because I love myself, it’s time for you to know

Our love was never real. You hated who I am.

I buried myself to please you. You didn’t give a damn.

Because love is a game of trust, a game you lost.

Without you, I’m happy. I hope you learn to understand.
