What Love Is

What does love look like

You always showed me the pitfalls

Taught me to set my standards high

To avoid the distractions

That the bells and whistles

Won’t make it worth my time

When you left she was in shambles

Felt like her worth was gone

Because you told her that she was

Everything you said and nothing could

Ever make her feel as good

As when you told her she was beautiful

Now I know that there are always conditions

The stipulations

Can even come from blood

Sometimes the water is thicker

And I don’t have to feel like I’m less

Than anything I was before

You decided I wasn’t worth your time anymore

Now I know that he cannot demean me

That if they love you they will build

If they love themselves they will destroy

Your value should never waiver

With their days or hours

Love

If they love you there should never be

Ifs ands or buts

Love should not have an

If you do this

If you say this

Love.
