What is Love?
What is Love?
Love is patient and kind, it does not envy.
I will be tolerant and kind to any,
I’ll not be jealous, for it is deadly.
What is Love?
It does not boast, it is not proud.
I won’t show off or brag aloud
I will be humble, this I’ve vowed
What is Love?
It does not dishonor others,
Respect I will have for mothers
Fathers, sisters and my brothers
What is Love?
It is not self-seeking.
No selfish act or way of speaking
Will lead my heart, no havoc wreaking.
What is Love?
It is not easily angered,
In peace I will be kept anchored
Mercy will always be my standard
What is Love?
It keeps no record of wrongs.
I will forgive, keep no hate songs
Compassion is all that really belongs.
What is Love?
Love does not delight in evil
There’ll be no room for the upheaval
Of Satan’s dark heart, hate primeval
What is Love?
But [love] rejoices with the truth.
I will be honest with tongue and tooth
No matter their age, elder or youth.
What is Love?
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I will guard her, and believe in her, for all of her years,
I will hope for her future, and calm all her fears.
Yes, I will love her by Paul’s decree
Because I am her, and she is me.
