What is love
What is love?
Something almost unintentionally
yet indescribably desirable.
That feeling when you look in to someones eyes
and it’s not really a longing
to only be with that person
but so much more.
You want to understand their worst fears
and what brings them the most joy.
Love to me is not something you simply say
in thanks or return,
I love you gives up a piece of yourself.
I don’t long just for the touch of a hand
or any materialistic gift,
I only ask for an understanding of the soul,
because the fire I see burning in someone’s eyes,
small things like soft smiles
the way their nose crinkles
when they burst out in laughter
that’s when I know I love someone.
