what is love

i used to think that love was song

or butterflies

and that nothing went wrong

i used to think that love was an ocean

so boundless

and deep in its embrace

i used to think that love was a touch

a kiss

and it completely filled your soul

but then

i began to think that love was empty

so shallow

and it would never satisfy me

i began to think that love was mindless

or complete chance

and that it could not see me

i began to think that love was nonexistant

or a lie

and it would never find me

i was broken, depressed, unsure, lonely, unprotected

but then

i found it

it was not a song, an ocean, a touch

it was not empty, mindless, or nonexistant

no,

it was you.
