What is Love?
What is love?
The waves crash against the shore leaving an imprint in the sand
Like love left an eternal imprint on my heart
Love, like a big wave, coming suddenly, fun to ride until it reaches its breaking point
What seemed like a rush then becomes one with the rest of the ocean and for a moment it’s calm
But no matter how hard I try to forget, the existence of the wave is something that is undeniable, something that was and always will be
The water as it meets the sand carving out life’s destiny as though it was meant to be
But what is love?
The gun sounds and we are fighting for everything we ever had like we are in combat, our life, our love, our fate
Our hearts, the casualties of the war
Growing in agony as we move away from the destruction of the battle, but like war, something we can never forget
Our hearts of the past left to be buried
But with new life still remains part of our love
But what is love?
Amongst the chaos of war, eventually peace will come
And as I stare at the moon it all comes rushing back like the tide rising all at once
And I know, though we are not together, you are somewhere under the same sky looking at the same moon
And like the moon, love, whether it seems as though it isn’t there or whether it is full and bright for everyone to see or whether it is waning or whether it is growing in abundance or whether it is covered by clouds or whether it is illuminating a cloudless sky it is always there, and its existence undeniable
And maybe that’s what love is
Something that changes with time, but once it’s there it never vanishes
And sometimes it is something that grows and wanes and other times all you can do is just acknowledge it exists
But what is love?
