What Love Feels Like

Love... kinda feels like a surprise. I mean, normally surprises are good; jump a little, ends with a hug and a cake. This surprise felt a little bit sharp and sorta painful. Like the sudden skip-a-beat kinda feeling when a door slams in your face. But that's ok, love can't feel like this always... Right? So, you let it slide.

Love sometimes feels a little bit like everything you do is being judged. Thrown to the court and the verdict is up to Love himself. You better watch what you say, careful what you do. If you slip up, it's a disappointment. But, strangest thing is, Love doesn't have to watch what he says. He doesn't need to look over his shoulder every time he relaxes a bit. It's okay though, he needs to relax. So you let it slide.

Love kind of takes a lot of emotions away from you. But that's okay because he only seems to have one: Anger. He's mad when you're sad, it's too much for him to listen to. He's mad when you're mad because how the hell is it his fault!? Love is even mad when you're happy because he's sick of hearing your laugh and he's just too tired for this kinda energy. Love really hates your emotions, so he takes 'em; he takes all but fear. But fear alone doesn't hurt too bad, so you let it slide.

Love sorta... feels like your entire life is gone. He convinces you that your friends are done and for some reason you listen, but when your family tries to convince you that Love's no good for some reason you don't. But it's okay, you promise, You can handle the quiet. So you let it slide.

Love can strangely feel like starvation. Like you've been dieting just a bit too much. When you reach for anything and anyone to make you feel better, to maybe help you cope with the pit that is your empty stomach, your hand is slapped away. But you weren't even that hungry anyways, so you let it slide.

Love feels as if it can break in the palm of your hands at any second. As if it can't handle the pressure of even the most gentle touch. You feel the need to take care of this fragile, helpless love, to make sure it stays alive in even the hardest conditions. You rush around, protecting the gift so much that it starts to feel like a burden that's too heavy for your now weak hands. The relief you feel when you finally share love floods you until it's too late. As you look up to share gaze with the lucky bearer of your precious love... It's gone.
