what love means to me

i still remember the day
your heart where my head lay
the world at a pause
from the birds, there weren’t any caws
it was just you and i
those three words you said, they were no lie
even now, those words mean so much
coming from someone that makes me shiver with every touch
we laugh until our lungs give up
and even then, that wouldn’t be enough
we keep going until finally
we lay down kindly
side by side
looking eye to eye
we realize what love is about
it’s not about the amount,
that is present
or isn’t
it’s about always having someone
when you’ve cut the onion,
i’ll always be there
for the sake of all the good times we share
sweetie, i’ve seen it all
and you’re still the one i love to call,
mine.
