What Love Should Be

Because I love you, she said,

I yell at you

I tell you what’s right

I make you feel small

I tell you what to do and what to wear what to say

how to act

all because I love you.

Then why, he said

do I support you

let you do what feels right

express yourself in whatever ways you want

stand with you through all of your hardships

Because I love you, and that’s what love should be.
