What Lovers Have to Do

when the day was dark and the leaves wouldn't fall

you were the maddest of them all

the rocks would crack as the sound of the earth

and your hands were dirty stained with dirt

the sound of innocence rang in your ears

what love demanded you to hear

with the wind your heat has gone to find

another person of my kind

a single heart is made for two

home for me and home for you

but I will share with someone new

because that's what lovers have to do
