What Made You Interested?

Was it the way

The words looked like art?

Or the way

Some words struck the heart?

“No”

Was it because

Of the books you read while young?

Or because

It felt like a foreign tongue?

“No”

Was it how

It provided temporary escape from the world?

Or how

All the messages and meanings were constantly swirled?

“No”

Then what was it

What made you interested in poetry?!

Please say what was it

Before we give up on your geometry…

“Fine”

“It was the way

It sometimes made a great outlet.

And the way

It sometimes could make a duet.”

Okay…

“It was because

Some friends gave me some encouragement

And because

My mind gave my poems nourishment”

Where is this going?

“It was how

I saw songs as a form

And how

It was always fun to break the rules”

What?

“That is it

That’s what made me like this

That is it

That’s why your guesses were a miss”

Oh, well see ya

“Goodbye reader”
