Savor this sweet emotion,
Remember its taste,
Cherish the way it
Brushes against my heart
Like warm butter and silk,
The way it settles into the center
Of my stomach
And fills my hunger
For pain, joy, loss and fulfillment.
This flavor that is sweet but
Holds a hint of sour, and
Leaves a bitter aftertaste
That makes the next spoonful
Of sugar only the sweeter.
These flavors I feel,
Please let me always retain
My ability to taste,
The different colors of life.
