"What makes you...you"

Being yourself. It's a challenge we all face daily. Among the results of a broken society and the corrupt system we live in. My soul is only as strong as I intend it to be but loosing family and friends causes me to question the reality my soul existing. What makes me...me? The strength I hold for my mother when I see she is low. Holding my tears because I fear it will make weaker. Waking up daily to a misery, I pray in the shower and as i stare into the mirror I question is my life relevant. My soul is only as strong as I intend it to be. I am made by the very violence that consumed me as a child. Trying to survive the streets and starving, it's a horrible life we live but facing the reality is what makes us. The only lines you cannot cross are the ones you draw in your head. A high head as you walk and a brave face as you talk. This is what makes us, but what if behind closed doors we are dying? Sad and crying? In denial to our outrageous actions. We all believe we deserve more, but in the same sense we are afraid of the unknown. This are what breaks us. What makes you....you? Being able to stare in the mirror with courage, being able to wake up and remember that your life is only getting better. What makes you...you? Is very simple, its the very feeling you get being happy. Losing track of time as your heart beats you forget all insanity. Knowing you're doing good for yourself, knowing you have made that change. This is what makes us who we are. Never live in fear, understand for every voice there is an ear. If you cant find something to live for, find something to die for. This is what makes me....me.
