What Matters Nowadays

Cars, houses, and diamond rings

Folks caught up in material things

A world so tainted on a bed of ease

Living in hatred, the worse disease

Where's the peace everyone asks

While merely existing behind their masks

People hungry for food that will sustain

Not only the body, but the mind and the brain

Start with a book or a simple word

Speak from the heart and you will be heard

Even if by one, make every moment count

For one never knows to what it will amount

Stay humble; grow strong amid adversity

Sacrifice and make choices against perversity

Especially when everyone around is succombing

Don't trip. Stay calm.  Your time is coming.

Work against the grain to reach your goal

Stay focused and watch your dreams unfold

Remember, regardless of what anyone says

Love and education is what matters nowadays
