What A Mess!

I know I said I wanted to go to college,

but, now that  its time to go

I'm moving very slow.

I lie in my bed at night,

Saying to myself,

I just want to fight!

One night as I slept,

I started to realize

I needed to prep.

I always knew this day would come,

Now that it is here

I'm trying to run.

I decided to put on my “big boy pants”,

all of a sudden I wanted to dance.

“I'm going to college!”… I wanted to yell,

but my inside voice said, “what if you fail?”

I'm certainly going to run out of money,

then, I thought about all the honeys!

I put on my hat and started to pack,

I knew I looked cool, but I felt like a fool.

As I drove to the college, I started to think

this journey of mine is starting to sink!

I began to think how much I was blessed,

and how I left things in such a mess.

The kids at the college made me feel smart,

the thing of it is, this is just a start

Now I am so grateful for what I had,

the thing that I can never do without

……is my Mom and Dad!
