What the Mirror Hides

Moring light shines on a new day, except that it looks just like yesterday. Here I am looking at my reflection, looking at what is supposed to be me, but it doesn't feel like me. The girl I see is whole. She looks invincible, unbroken. When I look down on my body, I see scars and bruises. I wake up every day with the pain. The pain that can't be seen in this reflection. Even when it hurts to wake up, I rise to become the girl that everyone sees. I wake up to feel the way I look in my reflection.
