What is Poetry?

What is Poetry? Is it random words slapped on a page? A certain rhyme scheme? Special syllable count? Iambic Pentameter? Or is it something more? Poetry is special, unique Poetry is a piece of the heart, A chunk of the soul Poetry is a part of you It can be deep, full of hidden meanings... or simply an apology for eating frozen plums (so sweet, so delicious) Poetry is what you make of it, And that's its beauty. That's why I write.
