What Is Poetry?
To most people, poetry, is just a word. To a miniscule fraction of the population, the word has a much bigger meaning. Free mysoul, and let the words write themselves. Anger, Sadness, Contentment, Dispair, and even Love, Lust, and Passion. Easily expressed through the written word, but only a select few can understand the masculinity of its powers, and the femininity of its delicateness. To some, words on a page, are just hat: words. To the other portion of life, in their infancy, only they know the freedom, the peace, the resilience words written on a page truly mean. Metaphor after simile, before caracture, before cacophony, after alliteration, there is alway something, somewhere the small percent recognizes in every day little things, which makes poetry, not only awork of art, or writing, but also a work of life, love, blood, sweat, and tears. Poetry, with its floweriness, and misunderstandings, s so much more than words on a page, to me. Poetry has given me a way to express my feeings when th spoken word was not good enough, or could not measure up to the complexity and mixed emotions of my youthful mind and imagination. Poetry has given me a way out, a way to deal with the stresses of school, the countless hours of homework, and everyday life. I write poetry like book, soft and gentle, yet firey and fierce. Rhyme is not needed, when coming from the heart. THIS is poetry to me.
