What Poetry Does for Me?

Location

      When I think of poetry

        I think of freedom,

       expressing myself,

            and letting go.

I think of the trials and tribulations

I've been through and having poetry as my

biggest escape, my rock, and

             my relief.

Taking away my pain is what poetry does

              for me.

It opened my eyes to a whole new world,

a world where I can express my feelings and

make words chime like hummingbirds with  poetry lines

such as "flying high in the sky" and witnessing the "stars in the sky being beautiful and bright."

With poetry, I am living life

  instead of existing in

    my body.

When anybody ask what poetry does for me,

I simply just say, "all the greater things life has to offer"

with a smile on my face

and my hands on my waist.
