What Poetry Has Done For Me

My thoughts were always so built up
With just no place to go
Until one day I wrote them down
And put them in a poem

Poetry is where my thoughts are safe
From all the demons inside
It's where I express how I feel
Where I know I don't have to hide

Being a poet truly is special
It's helped me through a lot
But everything it's done for me
Describe it, I cannot

No one seems to understand
Heck, I barely do
But if you knew what it did for me
You would do it too

Now give what I said some thought
Implant these words into your head
So next time you feel overwrought
You can write how you feel instead
