what poetry taught me

poetry is love, poetry is fate

i never knew that poetry would be my escape

i write for joy, i write for pleasure

poetry makes me feel good, it couldn't get any better

poetry makes me feel, makes me believe

in something that may or may not be real

it sways, it moves

it smiles, it breaks

i write from pain, love, and heartbreak

it brings me to my knees, it harbors me into the mood

poetry is my soul-nurturing, rich, and lively source of food
