What is PTSD?
It is forgetting what day it is
It is forgetting you had an appointment
today because you lose track of time
It is writing down important things but
They don’t stay in your memory for long
It is striving to put everything together
Almost reaching the part where you got the job
Done, then finding out you missed a few things
It is going to class late and not turning in homework
Your life is in slow motion
Goals feel far away
Time has you trapped
You worry about the next minute, next hour, next day
You feel like a failure
Little mistakes enrage you because you want to get it right
You want to be in full control but you don’t have any
It is questioning your worth
Your thoughts
Your feelings
Your words
Your actions
It is losing your motivation
It is feeling small compared to your challenges
Everything is a challenge
Everything is a test
Constantly blaming yourself for the past and present
Self sabotage
It is going outside and not knowing where you parked
It is feeling rejected and being excluded
It is infinite thoughts beating you, like physical pain
It is your mind bringing up the verbal abuse
Of so many years
It literally flips your entire world upside down
Things don’t seem the same as before
It is feeling disconnected
It is questioning if you’re being logical
Or whether it's all disoriented
Its questioning if others see like I do
It is being afraid of self expression
And putting out your real personality
For everyone to watch
It is trying not to upset or offend anybody
