What Shall I Give My Parents?
What shall I give my parents? They are not rich,
But who are wiser than Solomon,
And who are filled with infectious love.
Parents whose type of war is kind,
No battles with cell phones, I-pads, curfews, and the ilk;
But who are radical physical only when showing love and affection,
Now lamenting that my years at home are waning,
My life like an unfinished symphony in A Minor
Because closet unkempt, numerous Sunday School absences,
Yes, they are made higher than the angels
A charge to keep they have.
Two vast monuments of purity and love
Who made me and perfected my mind .
They give wisdom, but I lack the experience
To grasp their pearls in the proper sense.
They gave me a life not whitewashed
But thoroughly knitted by the fruit of their one spirit.
I am crossing the bar to college but not alone;
Their love shall pilot me to distant shores,
Their love alone sufficient shall I give evermore.
