What She Gave Me

She gave me colours of the rainbow

Yellow, Red, Pink

Blue, Black, Purple

All hidden so no eye can see

She gave me words of the wise

Honour, Pride, Discipline

Shame, Punishment, Pain

Moving me to endless tears

She gave me a sense of touch

Loving, Motherly, Gentle

Rough, Stinging, Hurtful

Numbing me to the bones

She gave me life

Love, Baby, Mother

Birth, Girl, Joy

I am her daughter

She gave me everything

I wish she'd take it all back
