Is This What Soulmates Are?

When God crumpled the stars

And made people

Scattering these borrowed atoms across

The earths skin

Did he await the day that I would find you?

And as our ancestors died and rejoined the stars

In the heights of heaven

Did they watch to see when we would meet?

We did not burst into flames when we first touched

(Though I feel like I am with the stars already accomplishing

My lifes work when I am with you)

And I was not drunk on your love

(Just drunk on what we could be)

So I wonder if the heavenly spectators missed it

I sure did at first

But I believe love is a slow burn, not a sudden flame

How else are we to form constellations together

After a lifetime or forming the greatest versions of ourselves?

Surely as God made the stars to whisper

Wise advice to us at night

He made me for loving you

Growing past the sky

This poem is about:
Me
Our world

I'm in love with this. This visual images in my mind are breathtaking, as if I'm watching a film.
