What A Team They Are

What a team they are this couple so great

With mother so young and dad at forty-eight

To them, my brother and I owe quite a great lot

Because without this pairing, exist we would not

They’ve taught us respect of both young and of old

We learned from their example, when right, be bold

When shopping, quality trumps quantity, of this there’s no doubt

And as far as the method?  Get in and get out

From mother we derived fight, a real warrior’s position

Be loyal to family and be sure your troops listen

From father, diplomacy, negotiating skills so strong

Listen to both parties and realize...they’re both wrong

We learned that honesty really is the best policy

And to ignore a parent’s advice can be quite a travesty

Their words are jewels from which wisdom doth stem

How do I know?  EASY!  They’ve got a century between them

Well, I’ve dibbled and dabbled of my folks oh so swell

They’ve made life more like heaven instead of the other known well

They’re like a lighthouse luminescent or a bright shining star

When you seem you must wonder...What a team they are
