What They Saw

She was the girl with a dancers heart,

the girl with the optimistic mind.

She had the smile that made people stop to stare.

But he didn’t see that

No, he saw the other her; the her he liked but she hid.

He saw the girl with the singer’s voice,

the girl with the old soul.

He saw her eyes, that were stars stolen from space.

That’s how he fell in love.

He was the boy with the best stories,

the imagination of a child.

He had a way to make you feel important.

That’s not what she saw,

No she didn’t care for that as much as what she did see.

She saw the boy who cared for everyone,

who’s a hopeless romantic.

She saw his heart that was pure gold.

That’s how she fell in love.
