Dear Mom,
Vulnerable place you say you understand. Tears I cry you say you've cried. You absolutely cannot possibly get it.
I drown every day...
"Put on your floaties," you say, "I taught you how to swim," you say! "Come on you got it" you say.
I can never understand how I reach out to you, but you never caught me
How I tried to swim and you could never save me, how I cried and you never heard me.
Mom's they say nurturing born women, parents they say love their children.
I got the half of that.
I can't blame you much cause your mom taught you most of what you know; her mom taught her all she knows
The cycle repeats, but it ends with me.
I am a young black educated girl with these wonders of dreams and you tell me to give up my dreams for money
I say different, I will follow my heart and teach my children to follow their hearts.
When they start to drown, I will save them and reassure them. I am battling a world on my own.
A young black girl missing things in the world cause her mom is too about her.
I guess I don't have it too bad or do I?
