What was in her head all along

“At first”

At first it became a purpose

then it became a custom

to degrade women because they were not equally capable of things

like men.

Then, it became that they were,

but let’s still pretend like they are not.

At first it became a purpose,

then it became a custom to justify

Rape.

But then that was wrong;

however, we pretend the assaulters aren’t in the wrong.

At first it became a purpose to help those who couldn’t help themselves,

but then everyone freaked out when we all yelled

“me too”

at the same time.

(Part 2: for him)

At first it was a tradition,

then it became reality

that guys say they love me,

yet only for what they see

externally.

At first it was a NO,

but then it became

will he hate me if that was my answer?

At first it was wrong,

but then I felt bad,

so I gave him the right to do me wrong anyways.

At first it wasn’t on purpose,

but then it became the custom.
