What We Have
What We Have
Light footfalls in the sunset,
Small footprints in the sand,
We’re innocent with no regrets,
Wanting only what we have.
Laughing in the water,
Not knowing there’s a deep end,
The hills I see are strong and sure,
But all roads take a bend.
Wondering what happened,
Lost in worlds we made,
But though spirits shall be dampened,
Hearts can be remade.
And in the woods I wander,
You’re on the other side,
The closer I come, the farther,
We’re lost in tides of time.
And then it comes to close,
The backing of the tide,
Familiar but separate roads,
Are somehow intertwined.
Light footfalls in the sunset,
Small footprints in the sand,
Our trials, pain and all regrets,
Give us what we have.
