What We Never Knew About Cinderella

I put on these slippers

And mice built me a gown.

I went to the gates

And a horse kicked a pumpkin into a carriage.

I locked eyes with a man

And a prince made me his bride,

and yet,

I am not who I say I am.

Dont let out the past, its just your's to know

Said a voice in her head.

I realized then

She hadn't a clue...

Just a beautiful mind in a world away from mine.

My family asks how I am.

She says out loud.

So I tell them of stories they must find mundane,

Who cares to hear about which gown I chose to wear to the luncheon?

They could almost seem adventurous if you don’t listen to close.

I am not who I say I am.

I wrapped up my bag,

My instruments and viles.

I walked to the door while she looked out the window and smiled.

She's still living,

I said to her mother.

Is she happy?

She asked in return.

I looked back at the girl trapped in her mind.

Ive never seen a brighter face.
