What We See

I wake up every morning and this is what I see A lifestyle I never thought fit for me When I turn the corner of my block they always appear The memories of the people who have been held dear I walk to train and this is what I see The desperate people going to my neighbor for weed The kids that should be going to school doing nothing on the block Not accepting that what they do they should stop I walk home everyday and this is what I see The tragic event of my death and family without me Keep your phone away I screech As we pass the abandoned church where no souls preach As I walk to the store this is what I see The boys on my block thinking drugs are the key The children of these gangsters walking freely about Because if anyone touches them the result is stabbing without a doubt As I prepare for sleep each night this is what I see A man who hides more than it seems People who come to him for help And the white substance that’s dealt I wake up every morning and this is what I see A lifestyle I never thought fit for me I turn the corner of my block and they always appear The memories of the people who have been held dear.
