What Would I Change?

What would I change? With the war, disease
Corruption and poverty through seven seas
With all the people living a life unique
Comparing themselves to the artist of the week

What would I change? Would I change their eyes?
Would I make the world beautiful with all its lies?
Would I ask for forgiveness when things went wrong?
Would I show the silver lining when the days are long?

What would I change? Would the judgment stop?
Would the racism and genocide be forgot?
Would discord disappear from song?
Would enemies and neighbors somehow get along?
Would the world fit perfectly in God's plan?
Looking inside, would I change who I am?

The truth is, I'd change no thing on earth
Because the good outweighs the bad in worth
The times we smile for something said
The times we laugh, not in our heads
The family ties that keep us warm
The books we read during the storm
The mornings we have naught to do
But sleep until our dreams come true
The boy who makes our heart skip beats
The walks along the peaceful streets
There's beauty in the world, you see
Beauty in you, beauty in me
And while some parts may hurt like hell
There's beauty in those parts as well
It's true, perfection is the goal
But perfect can't describe a soul
So what I'd change I can't deny
Nothing underneath our sky.
