What Would I Do?

What would I do,
if I had one night to spend
here with you?

Well, darling, I’ll tell you.
I’d dance.
I know, I know…
You’ve told me you can’t.
Neither can I,
But for you I’d give it a chance.

Now, I know my room is small.
There’s barely enough room for our two-person ball.
I doubt I’d even have room to twirl,
but if you were in there it’d feel as endless as the world.

Darling, I’ll tell you,
standing there with our hands clasped together,
I’d wish we could stay there forever.

With or without our music,
I’ll hope you’re struck
by my blind-painted Cupid—
though I know you wouldn’t,
because that’s just my luck

Even so, I will always hope
that I may one day be spotted under Oberon’s scope,
perhaps to be drenched with love-in-idleness.
So enough of my politeness.

It’s time to tell the truth.
I’m calling the shots just like Babe Ruth.
I have feelings for you,
And I know you don’t feel the same.
I’m sorry, but I can’t stop.
Wild hearts are hard to tame.

So what would I do,
if I had one night to spend
here with you?

Well, darling, I’d dance
