What Would It Take

The rain falls outside the window And I’m wondering how much you know Lord knows I’ve made mistakes And God knows what it will take For me to find my place with the rising run To get where I’m going before I’m done What would it take? For a sinner like me, To find my place To have Jesus standing next to me No one told me It would be this hard But after all I got this far Treat each day like your last And oh Lord knows I need to learn to let go of my past

Hello, I'm Allie. I'm a very honest person who has a witty sense of humor. I love to meet new people and listen to stories about their life experiences. I believe that life lessons can be acquired at any moment and that we should learn from everyday. I try my best to be a good person and do what I can to help out. I work at an animal shelter and love it. I also love to read, write, sleep, and eat mashed potatoes :)

I really enjoy the structure of this poem--a string of couplets interrupted by a single line: "To find my place." This line has no rhyming line paired with it, and it thereby stands out as the focal point of the poem--and it is a fitting focal point, I think, given the subject matter.
