What you don't See

Here I stand

Looking at this piece of art

Listening to the painting whisper in my ear.

As I wonder what it is trying to tell me.

Telling me I have to look closer

Telling me I have to dig deeper

Telling me I have to reimagine what the painting looks like

To get the real story

To see what is really there

To see the fish swimming under the water

Or the pebbles sitting at the bottom of the pond

Even the bugs buzzing over the water

This painting is more than a pond

This painting is a story

This painting is a lesson

Telling us to look past what we see

Now here I stand

Looking at this piece of art

Understanding the painting

Knowing what it is trying to tell me.
