What You Left Behind

It's easy to envision you sitting in the chapel

bathing in your self-proclaimed holy water

safe

from the demons that once plagued your youth

from the reverberating whispers and

from the vacant stares.

You blocked them all out

and now

I worried you with my

so called predispositions

and you disclosed what I entrusted you

to hold sacred

and secret

until I decided to break free

by my own will.

I'm hopelessly devoted. Poetry is my outlet.
